
Kent State Leads By Nine Strokes After Day 1 at MAC Women’s Golf Championships

HOLLAND, Ohio – Led by four players in the top-10 on the individual leaderboard, Kent State finished Friday's opening round of the 2022 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships with a nine-stroke lead. The Golden Flashes finished the round with a +8, 296 at the par-72 Stone Oak Country Club.
Senior Emily Price carded a 70 (-2) in the opening round and sits one stroke behind the leader. Price led the field with five birdies and shot 1-under on par-4 and par-5 holes. The four-time MAC Golfer of the Week was at +1 through 11 holes before closing strong with five pars and birdies on No. 12, 17 and 18.
Fifth-year Chloe Salort is also in contention for individual medalist honors, firing a 73 (+1) on Friday. Salort led all players with 14 pars, including each of the final eight holes.
Freshman Jennifer Gu and junior Noramol Nuchsila added counting scores for Kent State. Gu is tied for sixth with a 76 (+4) and Nuchsila is one stroke behind in a tie for 10th.
The Flashes are scheduled to tee off the second round of the 54-hole tournament at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and will be paired with Northern Illinois and Toledo. Live scoring can be tracked on GolfStat.
