
Flashes Women Aim to Defend MAC Outdoor Title

The Kent State women's track and field team will attempt to stand atop the podium for the second year in a row when it heads to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan to compete at the 2022 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, Thursday May 12 through Saturday, May 14.
The three-day competition begins Thursday at 11:30 a.m. with the heptathlon. Field events start at 12 p.m. with the javelin throw and running trials are scheduled to start at 6:20 p.m. with the 400-meter hurdles.
Friday's action begins with the heptathlon at 12 p.m. Field events will get underway at 3 p.m. with the shot put. Running trials will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the 100-meter hurdles.
Action on Championship Saturday starts with the triple jump at 11:30 a.m. Running events will begin with the 4x100 relay at 1:10 p.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. with the 4x400 relay.
SCORING FORMAT
The top eight competitors in each event will score points for their team with a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 scale.

PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State has 29 student-athletes entered to compete, including six that rank in the top 3 in the MAC in their respective events.
Gabby Bailey is ranked first in the discus throw and second in the shot put, events she won a year ago. Grace Tennant, the 2021 Most Valuable Performer, ranks second in the javelin throw and third in the discus and shot put.
Leah Pasqualetti ranks first in the pole vault, while Angelina Lotarski is third.
Benja Duff has the fastest 100-meter hurdles time in the conference.
Lillie Franks rounds out the Flashes with top-3 rankings and sits third in the high jump.
NEXT UP FOR KENT STATE
Golden Flashes who rank in the top-48 in the region will compete at the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Indiana from May 25-28.
