
Women’s Track and Field Finishes Second at MAC Outdoor Championships

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Kent State's women concluded competition Saturday at the 2022 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships with 110 points, their most at the meet since 2017, for a second-place finish.
Benja Duff won the 100-meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 13.46 seconds to maintain the No. 2 spot on the Golden Flashes' all-time performance list. Mi'Angel Daniels ran a season-best 13.76 to take fifth place.
Kent State earned 19 points in a third throwing event of the championship, capturing the second through fourth spots in the discus throw. Gabby Bailey finished as runner-up with a toss of 171'-9" on her fourth attempt. Grace Tennant (170'-7") and Aliesha Shaw (158'-7") placed third and fourth, respectively.
Lillie Franks cleared 5'-7" to match her best height of the season and take fourth in the high jump.
The Flashes' final nine points came on the track, led by a fifth-place performance in the 400-meter dash by Ruby Greenwood in 55.31. Alexandria Verbancic's personal-best of 1:01.10 was good for sixth in the 400-meter hurdles and the No. 8 spot in the Kent State record book. Daniels, Greenwood, Verbancic and Leah Pasqualetti recorded a time of 3:46.64 for seventh in the 4x400 meter relay.
The Flashes will continue postseason competition with qualifying student-athletes in action at the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Indiana from May 25-28.
