
Kent State Visits Buffalo for Final Road Softball Series

Kent State looks to make one final push for a top-four spot in the Mid-American Conference standings when it travels to Buffalo for the final road series of the season.
Due to forecasted weather for the next two days, a doubleheader is now scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, followed by a single game on Wednesday.

Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes (18-25, 9-14 MAC) dropped two of three games to Western Michigan in a series that was dominated by standout pitching. Kent State collected eight of its 13 hits in the series as part of an eight-run first inning in Game 2, which it went on to win 9-1 in five innings.
Sophomore Jessica LeBeau and redshirt senior Andrea Scali combined for a 0.95 ERA and 27 strikeouts to only three walks while holding the Broncos to a .152 batting average.
Senior Brooklyn Whitt led the Flashes at the plate, going 4-for-10. Senior Chloe Cruz and sophomore Madison Hershberger shared the team lead with two RBIs each.
Scouting Buffalo
The Bulls (18-23, 9-13 MAC) went 1-2 in a trip to Central Michigan over the weekend and have lost 10 of 13 conference games since a 6-3 start to the MAC schedule.
Brianna Castro leads the offense with a .314 batting average and is tied for third in the conference with 13 doubles. Alexis Lucyshyn is the only other Buffalo hitter above .300 at .309 and has driven in 26 runs. Olivia Kincannon (11 home runs, 30 RBIs) and Rachel Steffan (7 home runs, 25 RBIs) bring power to the lineup.
Lucyshyn (9-8) and Julia Tarantino (8-14) have combined for nearly 250 innings in the circle this season. Lucyshyn leads the Bulls with a 3.24 ERA and 90 strikeouts, while Tarantino owns a 4.65 ERA with 77 strikeouts.
On Deck for the Flashes
Kent State will return to the Diamond at Dix for the final weekend of the regular season to host Bowling Green on May 7-8.
