KENT, OHIO- The Golden Flashes welcome in league-leading Ball State for an action-packed weekend at Schoonover Stadium.
Due to rain in the forecast, the schedule for the weekend has shift. The Flashes and Cardinals will now play a solo game on Saturday at 4 p.m., a double header Sunday starting at one and wrapping the weekend with the series finale on Monday with a noon first pitch.
Prior to Saturday's game, the 2012 College World Series Team will be honored, celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the magical run to Omaha. Before Sunday's double header, the team will honor the 2022 graduating senior class as well as Mother's Day. During the series' finale, the team will recognize the seniors' most valuable professors.
The Flashes will look to snap a three-game slide this weekend. They will look to snap the eight-game winning streak of the Cardinals, who are coming in off a sweep of then-first place Central Michigan.
The match-up will be between the top-two offenses in the MAC, the Flashes lead the way with a .312 team batting average in conference and .302 overall. Ball State is right behind them at .311 in MAC play and .278 overall. The weekend matchup will feature several league leaders as well. Josh Johnson, Collin Mathews and Justin Kirby all find themselves at or near the top of MAC offensive categories, as do Amir Wright, Trenton Quartermaine and Zach Cole for the Cardinals.
Saturday's potential starting matchup of Tyler Schweitzer and Eric Chalus will feature two of the nastiest lefties in the conference. They rank amongst the leaders in ERA, strikeouts, and opponent batting average. Â Sunday's potential match-up of Ben Cruikshank and Trennor O'Donnell also will be one between league leaders.
This weekend's slate will be streamed free of charge through BoxCast and the Kent State Digital Network. Links to the streams and the live stats are available on the baseball schedule page.
The Flashes will hit the road for the final time in the regular season next weekend with a trip out to Kalamazoo and Western Michigan.
