KENT, Ohio - The Kent State women's soccer team is set to begin its 2022 season this week against a pair of Horizon League foes, hosting Cleveland State Thursday at 7 P.M. and Oakland at 1P.M. on Sunday, with both games being played at Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium.
About the Flashes
Head Coach Rob Marinaro's squad, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the program's inaugural season, have their sights set on another appearance in the Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship. Redshirt senior Tianna Harris, the 2021 MAC Defensive Player of the Year, will lead the way for Golden Flashes after being named to the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Players to Watch List. Senior goalkeeper Sarah Melén will help anchor the Flashes' defense, while Harris, sophomore Alisa Arthur, junior Giulia Giovinazzi, and junior Callie Cunningham will look to propel the offensive attack.
Kent State is picked to finish 4th in the MAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll, receiving two votes to end the year as conference tournament champions. The preseason poll is picked after compiling votes from the conference's 12 head coaches.
