
Five Golden Flashes Race to Top-10 Finishes in Cross Country Opener

ATHENS, Ohio — All five scorers finished in the top 11 as the Kent State men's cross country team placed second in the Ohio XC Invitational Friday morning at the Ohio University Golf Course.
The Golden Flashes' 36 points tied Toledo for the best team score, but the Rockets won the tiebreaker to claim first place.
Sophomore Baidy Ba paced Kent State in the 5K race, finishing third with a time of 15:21.98. Junior Joe Farley was close behind and crossed the finish line fourth in 15:32.48. Shadrack Kipkosgei (15:39.43), Jonah Cuestas (15:44.43) and Ethan Yost (15:49.80) finished eighth, 10th and 11th, respectively.
Kent State finished third as a team in the women's 5K. Graduate student Leah Lisle led the Flashes with a time of 18:418 for ninth place. Sophomore Sydney Gallagher also ran a strong race, finishing 25th with a time of 19:13.98.
The Flashes will return to action on Friday, Sept. 16 at the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Michigan.
