Knoxville, TENN... The Kent State women's golf team is off to a hot start in 2022, holding on for a fourth place finish at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate after posting a top-three result at the Dick McGuire to open their season last week.
Despite playing in a field that featured nine ranked opponents, including three in the top-25, the Flashes got off to a roaring start on Monday, and finished the job on Tuesday as one of only four teams to post a score under par.
"We did some really great things this week," Kent State head coach Casey VanDamme said. "The ladies are doing a much better job of staying in the present and giving themselves the best chance to be successful."
Noramol Nuchsila led the way for the Flashes, carding a 206 between the three rounds, landing the Kent State senior in the top five individually.
"We're extremely happy for Noramol, she did an excellent job this week," VanDamme said.
It was a true team effort for the Flashes this week as all five members of the Kent State lineup finished the intercollegiate inside the top-50.
Reigning MAC Golfer of the Week Mayka Hoogeboom posted a team-leading score of 71 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 21st while Jennifer Gu wrapped up her invitational just outside the top-25 in a tie for 26th.
The Flashes will be back in action on October 17th when they travel to Kansas for the Sunflower Invitational.
