KENT- The Golden Flashes return home to the friendly confines of Dix Stadium as they welcome in the Ohio University Bobcats in the annual homecoming game.
GAME DAY INFO
Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and will air on ESPN + as well as the Kent State Radio Network. Gates will open 90 minutes prior to kick off and parking lots open for tailgating at noon.
Fans are encouraged to wear NAVY and to arrive early to Dix Stadium to help avoid potential traffic and parking issues. Full Dix Stadium Game Day Information is available here.
The Golden Flashes are winners of 10 straight home games dating back to 2019, the streak is the longest in program history and one of the longest current streaks in the country. Kent State is 1-0 on home turf this season, defeating LIU 63-10 on September 17th. It was the fourth time the Flashes topped 60 points under head coach Sean Lewis, compared to doing it twice in the previous 95 years of the program.
AERIAL ATTACK
The Flashes have one of the best receiver tandems in the conference with Dante Cephas and Devontez Walker. Both receivers have topped 100 yards in a game this season and are amongst the conference leaders in receptions, yards and yards per catch.
SOUL COLLECTORS
The defense has taken the mantra "soul collectors" , under the leadership of new defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson. The Flashes sit amongst the MAC leaders in most defensive categories. Individually Nico Bolden, Khalib Johns and Marvin Pierre, rank amongst the leaders in tackles, sacks, tackles for loss, fumbles forced and fumbles recovered, respectfully.
ABOUT THE BOBCATS
Ohio comes into the matchup at 2-2 on the season with wins over FAU and Fordham and setbacks to Penn State and Iowa State. Kurtis Rourke headlines the offense. He leads the MAC in passing, averaging nearly 300 yards per contest. Sam Wiglusz has been his favorite target, the Ohio State transfer is in the top-5 in the MAC with a team-best 22 receptions.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
One of the oldest rivals for the Golden Flashes, this will be the 74th meeting all-time between the teams. Ohio owns a 45-26-2 all-time edge but the Flashes took last year's game in Athens, 34-27. Thanks to the truncated 2020 season, the two teams haven't met at Dix Stadium since 2018.
LOOKING AHEAD
Kent State heads back on the road for the next two weekends. First up is a trip out to Oxford to take on the Miami Redhawks. Kick-off next weekend is also set for 3:30 p.m.
