Flashes Look to Bounce Back from their First MAC Loss

Kent, Oh.- The Kent State men's basketball team (16-4) host the University of Buffalo (10-10) on Friday, Jan. 27. Tip-off time is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. and live on ESPNU.
The Flashes are looking to recover from their first MAC loss of the season earlier this week against Northern Illinois. Five of the Flashes were able to put up double-digits but still came up short against the Huskies.ย
With one loss in the MAC, the Flashes still remain on top in the Mid-American Conference and undefeated inside the M.A.C.Center. The Flashes are on a 16-home-game win streak, which is the second longest in the nation.ย
Earlier this week, guard Sincere Carry was named the 2022 Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year at the 23rd Greater Cleveland Sports Award. Carry leads the team with 17 points and 4.9 assists per game. With Carry's 16 points against NIU, he moved up to third in Kent State History with 1,698 career points.ย
This matchup between the Flashes and the Bulls will be the 58th all-time meeting with Kent State leading the series, 35-22. The Flashes were able to take home the win in the last matchup between the two, 70-65.
Scouting the Bullsย
The Buffalo Bulls (10-10) are coming off a 20+ point win on Tuesday against Ball State. Guards Curtis Jones (27) and Armani Foster (20) led the team with 20+ points. This is Jones' seventh game scoring 20 or more points and a new career high for Foster. Foster went 100% from the field (8-of-8) and from the free throw line (3-of-3). This is the first time in the nation a player went 8-for-8 shooting with seven assists in a game this season.
Bulls forward LaQuil Hardnett is fifth in the MAC with 7.3 rebounds per game and 8th with a 59.9 field goal percentage. Guard Armoni Foster is seventh with 3.7 assists per game and Curtis Jones is in the top 10 with 1.5 assists per game.
The Bulls are now first in the MAC and 42nd in the NCAA for assists per game with 15.5 and have moved to second in fastbreak points per game (18.6).
