Kent, Ohio - The Kent State men's basketball(17-4, 7-1 MAC) team remains undefeated at home with a win against the University of Buffalo 74-68. The Flashes own the second-longest home winning streak in the Country at 17 games.
The Flashes started the game with an 11-0 run in a packed M.A.C. Center and the team used that to its advantage. The Bulls were unable to get on the board for the first five minutes of the opening half after going 0-for-7 with three turnovers in their first nine possessions. At the half, Buffalo trailed 42-31 while Kent outshot the Bulls from the field 27.3% to 40.5%.
Chris Payton made his first start of the season for the Flashes. Payton had another game of video-worthy dunks and a career-high 5 blocks tying him at fifth in Kent State History for single-game blocks. He also recorded 12 points and had eight boards.
Sincere Carry once again led the offense with a game-high 24 points and seven assists. Carry's 24 points is the sixth time he has scored 20+ points. Jalen Sullinger once again came off the bench and dominated. Sullinger recorded double-digits in the first half for the third straight game totaling 11 points and going 3-of-5 from beyond the arch.
The Bulls closed the gap in the second half with Bulls' scoring leader Isaiah Adams hitting a three-pointer, but they could not maintain momentum. From the line, the Bulls failed to capitalize only going 8-of-15 from the charity stripe in the second half and were unable to produce offensively.
Overall, the Flashes had 40 points in the paint and shot 41.5 percent from the field. The Flashes outrebounded the Bulls 44 to 42.
