
Volleyball Hosts Miami to Finish Homestand

The Kent State volleyball team closes its four-match homestand to begin October with a pair of contests against Miami this weekend at the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes (4-14, 0-7 MAC) and RedHawks are scheduled to play at 6 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State battled tough in the first two sets in a setback to first-place Western Michigan last Thursday and then fell to Northern Illinois on Friday.
Outside hitter Mackenzie McGuire is the Mid-American Conference leader with 4.02 kills per set. McGuire has posted at least nine kills in 14 of 15 matches played this season and surpassed 500 career kills against the Broncos. Setter Kendall White has been the primary setter and averages 7.29 assists per set, which puts her ninth in the conference.
Bryn Roberts has been in the libero jersey most of the season and is fifth in the conference in digs per set (4.20).
MILESTONE WATCH
Senior Bryn Roberts enters the week with 991 career digs and looks to become the 15th member of the Golden Flashes' 1,000 digs club.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
The RedHawks (4-14, 0-6 MAC) have lost seven in a row and won just three sets during conference play. Miami is last in the MAC in opponent hitting percentage (.265) and blocks per set (1.39).
Outside hitter Ellie Hanson leads the team with 3.02 kills per set, 23 service aces and 3.05 digs per set. Outside hitter Chelsea Williams adds 2.92 kills per set. Hayden Hicks (6.56 aps) and Gracie Norris (4.41) have shared setting duties in a 6-2 system.
SERIES HISTORY
Kent State is 23-65 all-time against Miami. The teams have split the season series each of past three years.
UP NEXT
Kent State will play on the road the next two weekends, beginning with a pair of matches at Bowling Green on Oct. 20 and Oct. 21.
