
Flashes Take Down First-Place RedHawks

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State field hockey team (4-9, 3-2 MAC) won 2-1 against Miami (9-6, 4-1 MAC) this afternoon.
In the first quarter, both teams went scoreless, each earning one corner and one shot on goal.
Early in the second quarter, the Flashes were awarded a penalty stroke. Patricia Strunk scored, and Kent State took the lead 1-0.
To start the third quarter, the RedHawks converted a penalty corner to tie the game 1-1. Leading scorer Eva Usoz scored shortly after, recording her seventh goal of the season, and brought the Flashes up 2-1.
In the fourth quarter, Miami had three shots and two corners, but the Kent State defense held off the RedHawks to end the game 2-1.
Up next, the Flashes host Lock Haven on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 12 p.m. for Senior Day.
