How it Happened…
Set 1 (25-18): Karina Salinas posted kills on the first two points to give Kent State a lead it refused to relinquish. A service error by Eastern Michigan put the Golden Flashes ahead 13-10 and started a 7-1 run to pull away. Kiana Mack and Kendall White combined on a block for set point.
Set 2 (26-28): Mackenzie McGuire's seventh kill of the set made it 24-21 but the Eagles won the next three points to extend it. Kent State went back ahead, 25-24 and 26-25, before EMU scored three in a row again to even the match.
Set 3 (29-31): Logan Henderson put the Flashes ahead 24-22 but the host once again fought back to tie it at 24-24. Kent State had four more opportunities to win the set with each spoiled before EMU was able to win three straight points to steal the second set in a row.
Set 4 (22-25): After a slow start that resulted in a five-point deficit, the Flashes fought back to take a 19-18 lead. The Eagles took the next two points to reach 20 first and closed with a 7-3 run for the victory.
