Flashes Drop Final Road Contest of Season

MUNCIE-The Golden Flashes had several players have season highs on defense but it would be the Ball State Cardinals prevailing 34-3 on Saturday afternoon at Scheumann Stadium, the final road game of the 2023 campaign for the Golden Flashes.
The Flashes got career highs from safety Josh Baka, defensive end Tyler Baylor and linebacker Saed Abuhamdeh in the setback. Baka led the defense with eight stops and a pass break-up while Abuhamdeh was a part of two tackles for loss including his first collegiate sack.
Kent State took advantage of a short field at the end of the first half to get on the board. Punter Josh Smith averaged 42 yards a punt on Saturday and was able to flip the field midway through the quarter with a season-best 59 yard boot. The defense held the Cardinals and a nice punt return from Luke Floriea had the Flashes in business at midfield. Devin Kargman, who came in for Tommy Ulatowski during the drive, hit Trell Harris on a key fourth down to keep the drive alive. Harris tied with Floriea with a team high three grabs on the day. Andrew Glass split the uprights from 44-yards, his sixth field goal of 40+ yards on the season. Ball State would lead 13-3 at the half. Ball State would add two third quarter touchdowns that put the game out of reach and would add a third score late to round out the scoring.
Senior Day will take place next Saturday as the Flashes will honor the seniors in a pre-game ceremony inside Dix Stadium. Kick-off between the Golden Flashes and visiting Northern Illinois Huskies is set for noon on ESPN+.
