
Flashes Take Third in Paradise Jam Tournament

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS - Despite the Flashes trailing in the first minutes of the game 9-0, the team battled and ended up on top 79-72 against Fordham. With tonight's victory, the Flashes finished third in the Paradise Jam Tournament.
Chris Payton Jr. gets the Flashes on the board recording the first five points. Payton Jr. led the game with 23 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. The bench stepped in as players ran into fouls throughout the game. Tyem Freeman came off the bench on fire putting a three up to put the Flashes up by one point, 36-35, with 4:24 minutes left in the first half. The Flashes bench recorded 29 points.
The Flashes were down at half and came back holding the Rams to only two points in the first 11 minutes of the final half. With 13:12 left in regulation, the Flashes were on top 53-45. Both VonCameron Davis and Reggie Bass added 10 points each while Jalen Sullinger recorded 12 points. Despite multiple players with double digits, the Flashes would not get by easily. With multiple fouls on the Flashes, Fordham was able to continue to stay right behind the Flashes. The Flashes had their chances at the charity stripe as well, shooting 82.9 percent in free throws. The Flashes took advantage of zones and drove the ball shooting 43.1 percent from the field.
Head Coach Rob Senderoff was pleased with the Flashes but stated "There is a lot we have to work on, we have to learn through the film, learn through practice, and improve on the things we need to improve on. We have a monstrous schedule left!"

Next up, the Golden Flashes will return to the M.A.C. Center to play the College of Charleston on Sunday, Nov. 26. Tip-off time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET and can be watched on ESPN+ and heard on ESPN Cleveland. Tickets for the 2023-24 season are on sale now.
