
Flashes Prepare to Host NAIA Opponent Shawnee State

Kent, OH – The Kent State Men's basketball team is looking to snap back after a 78-74 loss against the College of Charleston. The Flashes will take on Shawnee State University on Thursday, Nov. 30 inside the M.A.C. Center. Tip-off time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and can be heard on the GoFlashes App and WHK 1420 AM. Thursday night's game is presented by Water Street Tavern.

The Golden Flashes fell to the College of Charleston after a 17-0 run by the Cougars in the second half. Jalen Sullinger recorded a game-high 23 points, seven boards, and shot 8-of-8 from the charity stripe. VonCameron Davis was another key player who came off the bench and recorded 19 points. Three of the Flashes' starting lineup have averaged double-digits in their first seven contests. Reggie Bass averages 10.3 ppg, Chirs Payton Jr. averages 14.7 ppg, and Jalen Sullinger leads the offense with 16 ppg. The Flashes are currently 2-2 at home averaging 86 points per game holding a +5.0 scoring margin against their opponents. The Flashes have shot 46 percent from the field, 76.9 from the free throw line, and hold a +3.8 rebounding margin at home.Â
Key Players for Shawnee State            Â
Shawnee State is 4-3 this season against NAIA competition. The Bears are coming off an 88-79 victory against Alice Lloyd (KY). The Bears closed in on its 500th career victory and went 33-for-58 from the field while also shooting 10-for-23 from the three-point range. For the second contest in a row, Shawnee State's Tyreke Johnson led the Bears with 19 points and 11 rebounds. The Bears' offense is also led by Keith Germain who averages 22.5 ppg, 8.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists with a 57 percent shooting average.  Â

The Golden Flashes will meet Shawnee State for the sixth time in program history. The Flashes lead the series 5-0 with their last contest being in 2018 and the Flashes won 90-69. The Bears are no stranger to the M.A.C. Center as they have played here four times. Â
