Flashes fall to Miami in MAC Championship

OXFORD, Ohio - The Kent State field hockey team (8-11) fell 3-1 against Miami (14-7) this afternoon in the MAC Championship.
In the first quarter, the RedHawks led in penalty corners (3-1) and shots on goal (2-0). The score remained 0-0 at the end of the quarter.
With less than two minutes before halftime, Miami was able to take the 1-0 off a rebound shot.
Going into the third quarter, the RedHawks used their momentum and scored, two minutes in, to increase the lead 2-0. Each team recorded one shot during the corner.
Early in the fourth quarter, Miami continued the lead, 3-0, and converted a penalty corner. Emma Rolston scored for the Flashes off a penalty corner to bring the score 3-1 with eight minutes remaining. Cecile van Eijck made 10 saves. The RedHawks led in corners (8-3) and shots on goal (13-2).
Iris Bekker, Patricia Strunk and Emma Rolston were named MAC All-Tournament Team selections.
