CLEVELAND – Alisa Arthur was named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Arthur had a tremendous week leading the Kent State women's soccer team to the MAC Championship game for the second time in the past three seasons. She scored the game-winning goal in the quarterfinal match against Northern Illinois and assisted on the other two goals in the Golden Flashes' 3-0 win over the Huskies, then netted the opening goal in the semifinal as Kent State took down top-seeded Western Michigan, 2-1. In the MAC Championship game against Ohio, the junior added an assist to cap off her breakout campaign.
After earning First Team All-MAC honors before the semifinal matches got underway, Arthur was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team for her standout play during the postseason.
Arthur led Kent State in goals (10), assists (6), points (26), shots (61), and shots on goal (32). Her six game-winning goals tied for the second-most in a single season and program history and are the sixth-most in the country this season.
Arthur is the first member of the Kent State soccer team to earn MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week this season. The junior is studying General Business and has earned a 3.927 cumulative GPA.
