KENT, Ohio — Women's basketball head coach Todd Starkey started the early signing period by announcing that Journey Hildebrand and Meghan Murray have signed to join Kent State's roster for the 2024-25 season.
"It's really exciting to sign Journey and Meghan for our 2024 freshman class," Starkey said. "Both fill needs for us moving forward and bring a great deal of competitive energy to our program. In addition to being great athletes, both are great students and will fit right in with our culture."
Journey Hildebrand | 5-11, Guard | Brunswick, Ohio
Hildebrand earned All-Ohio special mention honors as a junior, leading Brunswick High School to a 19-6 record and a spot in the district championship game for the first time since 2013. She is a three-time All-Greater Cleveland Conference performer and was named Medina County MVP last season. Hildebrand averaged 16.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game as a junior and shot a county-best 39.6% on three-point attempts. She enters her senior season with 1,168 career points.
"Journey's biggest skill is her versatility. She is a big wing who plays with great toughness and scores at all three levels."
Meghan Murray | 5-5, Point Guard | Hampton, Pa.
Murray earned unanimous first-team All-Section 2-5A honors during her junior season at Hampton High School. She averaged 19.7 points and 5.6 assists per game last year. Murray enters her senior campaign with 1,032 career points and is on pace to break the school record.
"Meghan is a tough, high IQ point guard who loves to compete. She is going to come in and be a great player for our program at the beginning."
