Flashes Head West to Play the Ducks

EUGENE, Ore. – The Kent State Men's basketball team heads West to play the University of Oregon inside the Matthew Knight Arena on Thursday evening. Tip-off time is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET. The game can be watched on the PAC12 Network and heard on ESPN Cleveland.Â
Last time out
The Golden Flashes wrapped up their non-conference schedule at home with an 83-77 victory over Cleveland State. The Flashes were led by Chris Payton Jr., Jalen Sullinger, and Cli'Ron Hornbeak. Payton Jr. led the game with 18 points and a career-high 20 rebounds while Hornbeak recorded 15 points and six boards. The Flashes are currently 1-0 on the road after an 82-77 win against South Dakota State. Kent State is no stranger to Power-5 opponents on the non-conference schedule and has had great success against the SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12, and Pac 12. This will be the eleventh consecutive season facing a Power-5 opponent. The Flashes' last victory over a P-5 was in 2019 when they knocked off Oregon State and Vanderbilt in the same season. Under Rob Senderoff, the Flashes have won five true road games against P-5 teams. Senderoff earned his first career victory over West Virginia on Nov. 15, 2011, in Morgantown.Â
Key Players for the University of Oregon
The University of Oregon is 7-3 and is sixth in the Pac-12. The Ducks are coming off an 83-63 loss to Syracuse at a neutral site. Freshman Kwame Evans Jr. dropped 17 points, eight rebounds, and four steals while Jackson Shelstad dropped 16. The Ducks are currently undefeated at home with a 5-0 record inside the Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks' offense is led by Jermaine Cousinard who averages 11.7 points per game, 2.7 assists per game, and 2.0 steals per game.
Series Match-up
Thursday's game is the first time the two teams will play each other in program history. Duck's Head Coach, Dan Altman, will meet the Flashes for the third time as a Head Coach. The previous two times he was the Head Coach at Creighton. Altman is 0-2 against the Flashes.Â

The Flashes will return on the road Friday, December 29 for a matchup against Saint Mary's College. The Flashes against Saint Mary's College is the last non-conference game.
