
Flashes Fly Past the Eagles to Secure their 20th Straight Win at Home

Kent, Ohio - The Kent State men's basketball (22-5, 12-2 MAC) team takes the two-game series after defeating the Eagles 81-51 this evening. With tonight's victory, the Flashes have won 20 in a row at home, second in the NCAA behind UCLA who has 21.
The Flashes won the tip-off and got right to it offensively going on a 12-point run before the Eagles were able to get their first bucket. Every Kent player who stepped onto the court recorded at least two points. The Flashes' dominated the first half out shooting the Eagles 57.1-to-39.3 percent from the field, 42.9-to-11.1 percent from the arch, and shot perfectly from the charity stripe. The Flashes' defense held Eagles' scoring leader, Emoni Bates, scoreless in the first half of the game.
The Flashes' continued to widen its lead after intermission, creating a 79-48 lead before Eastern Michigan went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 79-54 with 51 seconds to go in the contest. Kent State responded and outscored the Eagles the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 81-54.
Malique Jacobs made history by recording three steals to break Kent State's single-season steal record with 77. Along with three steals, Jacobs recorded 13 points and five boards. Sincere Carry led the offense once again recording a game-high 17 points and six assists. Carry now has 1,800 career points and has tallied double-digits 24 times this season. Julius Rollins scored another career-high off the bench with 13 points,
The Flashes recorded almost half of their points in the paint while shooting 53.4 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from the free throw line. The Flashes have only four games left in the regular season before heading to Cleveland for the MAC tournament.

The Flashes are back on the road for their final two away games of the regular season. The Flashes will start with Ball State on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Tip time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and will be live on ESPN+ or heard on ESPN Cleveland.
