The Flashes Travel to Ball State to Face the Cardinals

Muncie, Ind. - The Kent State men's basketball team (22-5, 12-2 MAC) travels to Indiana to face the Ball State Cardinals (19-8, 10-4 MAC). This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. In their first game, the Flashes defeated the Cardinals 86-65 inside the M.A.C. Center. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and will be available on ESPN+ or heard on 850 AM ESPN Cleveland.
The Flashes are on the road after capturing their 20th straight win at home, which ranks them second in the Nation. With a 12-2 MAC record the Flashes are sitting at the top of the Conference. The Flashes have not had 22 wins in a season since the 2018-19 season when the team went 22-11.
Flashes' Miryne Thomas returns to Ball State for the first time since transferring to Kent State in 2022. Thomas recorded 11.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game during the 2021-22 season and recorded 55 three-pointers at Ball State. Going into Tuesday's game Thomas has recorded 60 points from beyond the arch, averages 11.0 points per game, and a team-high 5.3 rebounds per game.
Sincere Carry continues to lead the Flashes including double-digits in 23 different games, and six games with 20+ points. Malique Jacobs broke his third school record in the team's most recent game against EMU with three steals. Jacobs' three steals puts him first in Kent State History for Single-Season Steals with 77.
Scouting the Cardinals
Ball State (19-8, 10-4 MAC) is looking to redeem itself from its most recent loss against Western Michigan 78-68. The Cardinals have won the majority of games at home recording an 11-1 record inside the Worthen Arena.
The Cardinals are fourth in the MAC and have clinched a spot in the MAC tournament. Cardinals are led by offensive leader Jarron Coleman who leads the Cardinals with 14.9 points, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. Payton Sparks is another Cardinal that has been a big part of their success leading the team with 8.5 rebounds per game which is fourth in the MAC.
The Cardinals average 80.3 points and hold a +11.8 scoring margin. At home, the Cardinals have shot 48.7 percent from the field and average 5.9 steals per game.

Next up, Kent State will travel to compete in their last road game of the regular season against Bowling Green on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tip-off time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET and can be watched on ESPN3.
