
Flashes Fall Short on the Road to the Cardinals

Muncie, Ind. - The Kent State men's basketball (22-6, 12-3 MAC) team fell short to the Cardinals inside Worthen Arena 82-72. With tonight's loss, the Flashes dropped to the second spot in the Mid-American Conference.
In a game that had seven different lead changes and nine ties, the Flashes were not able to hold onto a lead to win. Both teams came out ready to compete, playing an aggressive first half. Unfortunately, both teams struggled with fouls, leaving the first 20 minutes with 27 total fouls.
The Flashes shot inside the field for the majority of the first half, only taking five shots from beyond the arc. The Flashes outshot the Cardinals 40.7 to 31.8 percent from the field and 40 to 25 percent from the three in the first half. The game continued to be a back-and-forth war as Kent State took a 33-32 lead into the second half after Jalen Sullinger hit a three with seconds left.
The Cardinals came out from the locker room going on a 16-3 run, giving the Cardinals a 45-36 lead. The Golden Flashes answered with a 6-0 run and cut the Cardinal lead to 48-42 with 15:21 left in regulation. The Flashes continued to deal with fouls, and the Cardinals took advantage shooting 80 percent from the charity stripe in the second half.
Sincere Carry led the game with 21 points shooting 75 percent from the three and 80 percent from the free throw line. Carry also chipped in a team-high six rebounds along with teammate Malique Jacobs who recorded 18 points and a team-high three assists.

The Flashes head to Bowling Green to take on their final road game of the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tip time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and will be live on ESPN3 or heard on ESPN Cleveland.
