
Luther, Pentathlon Squad Lead Kent State Women on Day 1 at MAC Indoor T&F Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Kent State is tied for third with 23 points following the conclusion of action at the Mid-American Conference Women's Track and Field Championships on Friday at Perry Field House.
Grace Luther was the Golden Flashes' top performer during the first day of competition with a dominant performance in the weight throw. Luther had the top three throws of the competition and won with a personal-best toss of 63'-3". Briana Wright also recorded a new PR of 56'-5" and took seventh place for 12 total points in the lone throwing event of the day.
Kent State added 10 points in the pentathlon, as Svenia De Coninck and Matilde Carboncini posted two of the top-five scores on the program's all-time performance list. De Coninck totaled 3,692 points over the five events to finish fourth, while Carboncini captured sixth place with 3,621 points. Their scores rank fourth and fifth, respectively, in Flashes history. Karlea Duhon also scored and placed seventh with 3,472 points.
In the final scored event of the day, Nicole Kuehner, Alexandria Verbancic, Isabella Wolford and Nicole DiCicco placed eighth with a time of 12:17.76 in the distance medley relay.
Kent State also had four student-athletes advance to Saturday finals in running events. Ruby Greenwood and Taylor Korytkowski qualified in the 400-meter dash and Karsyn Spears and Anna Jones did so in the 800-meter run.
The final day of the 2023 MAC Indoor Women's Track and Field Championships begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and will be streamed on ESPN3.
