
Flashes Host CMU on Sunday for Senior Day Meet

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics returns to the M.A.C. Center for its final home meet of the regular season on Sunday. The Golden Flashes will host Central Michigan as part of their Senior Day meet.
The meet is slated to start at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Flashes posted their highest score of the season in Columbus last Sunday, finishing third in a tri-meet with Ohio State and Illinois with a 196.025.
The Flashes started the afternoon off on bars. Senior Rachel DeCavitch and junior Sarah Haxton each posted a 9.825 to lead the Flashes, with Haxton's score matching her highest of the season. Senior Olivia Amodei and freshman Nastia Rudnitskaya each added a 9.800, with Rudnitskaya's total setting a new personal best, as the Flashes combined for a 49.000 on the first apparatus.
On beam, the Flashes posted a 48.600 team score. DeCavitch again led the Flashes, scoring a 9.850 for her routine. Sophomore Alyssa Guns earned a 9.775 in her first event of the meet, and graduate student Cami Klein scored a 9.750 in the anchor spot for the Flashes.
Alyssa Guns led the Flashes with a season-high 9.950 on floor to place second in the event after winning back-to-back Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week awards. The sophomore has earned a 9.90+ mark on floor five times this season. Junior Kennedy Weinpert added another stellar routine for the Flashes, earning a 9.875, while Amodei earned a 9.850. Sophomore Grace Wehry also tallied a 9.850, which matched her season high, as the Flashes combined for a 49.350 team total.
The Flashes posted their highest team total on vault this season, combining for a 49.175. DeCavitch and junior Kyndall Gilbert each scored 9.850 to lead the Flashes, while Amodei, Weinpert, and freshman Zoe Rankin all earned a 9.825. Rankin's total set a new career high, while Gilbert and Amodei each set a new season-high mark.
SERIES STATS
Central Michigan ranks 39th in the nation in NQS, one spot above Kent State. The Chippewas sit third in the MAC standings, while the Flashes are one spot behind them in fourth place entering the final meet of the year. Central Michigan holds a 35-50 advantage in the all-time series, but the Flashes have won two of the last three meets. A year ago, Sarah Haxton won on bars and beam in a losing effort in Mount Pleasant.
