Kent OHIO... On Monday it was announced that Kristen Belden of Canton Central Catholic High School would officially be signing with the Kent State women's golf program for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
The Canton native has already put together an impressive junior career, scoring wins at the Northeast Ohio Co-Ed Classic, Stark County Championship, and Tri-County Postseason Tournament, as well as a second-place finish at the Northeast Ohio D2 Sectional Tournament.
"We are excited to have Kristen join our program," Flashes head coach Casey VanDamme said. "Kristen is a great athlete and has the tools to become a great player. Her clubhead speed, competitive nature, and desire to play with the best stood out in the recruiting process and we look forward to seeing her continued development."
Belden comes from a family of collegiate athletes, following her father Brian who played golf at Akron for four years, and her mother Joanna who played lacrosse at Ohio Wesleyan.
The latest member of the Golden Flash family plans to major in psychology and will enter the program with postseason experience having competed in each of the last two Ohio state tournaments.
The Kent State women's golf team will return to the links on Saturday, April 2nd when they close out their regular season at the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus.
