KENT-Mike McNamara had a four-hit day including a two-run homer and Kyle Jackson added a two-run shot as well as the Golden Flashes flew the flag with a 5-2 victory over the Pitt Panthers on Tuesday night at Schoonover Stadium.

Benny Roebuck went the first four innings on Tuesday and was one of five pitchers who held the Panthers to two runs on six hits. Mitchell Scott got the final four outs, all by strikeout, to earn his MAC-leading sixth save of the season.

McNamara ended the top of the first inning with a leaping grab that saved a least one run, then gave the Flashes the lead in the second with a line-drive, two-run homer to left. After Pitt made it 2-1 in the third, Kyle Jackson made it a 4-1 lead in the fifth with a mammoth homer over the scoreboard in right.

Pitt made their biggest push in the eighth, doubling home a run and loading the bases. Scott quieted the threat with a strike out and McNamara got the run back in the bottom of the eighth with a run-scoring double, capping his 4-for-4 night. Scott then fanned the side in the ninth to secure the victory.

The win moves Kent State to 22-10 on the season and drops Pitt to 14-17 overall. The Flashes stay at home for a three-game wagon wheel series with the Zips starting on Friday night. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
