
Kent State Cross Country Begins 2023 Season at Tommy Evans Invitational

The Kent State cross country teams opens the 2023 season with a short trip to Silver Creek Cross Country Trails in Norton for the Tommy Evans Invitational on Friday.
The women's 5K race will start at 6:15 p.m. and followed by the men's 6K race at 6:45 p.m.
Previewing the Flashes
Sydney Gallagher is the top returner for Kent State and leads a deep junior class that also includes Anna Jones, Ariana Manos and Sydney Miller. All four ran personal-best 6K times at the Mid-American Conference Championships las fall.
The men's team begins the season at No. 14 in the NCAA DI Men's Cross Country Great Lakes Regional Rankings, which were announced on Tuesday. NCAA qualifier Baidy Ba headlines the returners after running the fastest 8K and 10K times in program history during his sophomore campaign in 2022. Four of the remaining five runners who represented the Flashes at the regional meet are also back, including Jonah Cuestas, Trey Double, Dylan McBride and Ethan Yost.
The Field
Each race will feature 15 schools, including Akron, Bowling Green, Ohio, Toledo and Youngstown State.
