
Kent State Falls to Bobcats in Athens

ATHENS, Ohio โ The Kent State volleyball team lost a Mid-American Conference match to Ohio, 3-0 (19-25, 17-25, 17-25), at the Convocation Center on Tuesday night.
The Golden Flashes (4-10, 0-3 MAC) were led by sophomore Mackenzie McGuire, who posted 10 kills and just one error on 18 swings for a .500 hitting percentage. Senior Bryn Roberts and graduate student Burgundy Walters led the defense with seven digs and three blocks, respectively.
How it Happenedโฆ
ย ย ย Set 1 (19-25): Kent State led 4-3 but lost the next four points and played from behind the rest of the set. The Golden Flashes pulled within one point three times, the last coming on an ace by Bryn Roberts to make it 17-16 that forced Ohio to call timeout. The Bobcats scored the next three points and pulled away for a 1-0 lead.
ย ย ย Set 2 (17-25): The Flashes led by as many as five points at 13-8 but Ohio battled back to go ahead 15-14. A pair of service errors by the host kept it tied at 16-16 before the Bobcats scored eight in a row. Karina Salinas halted the run with a kill, but an error on the ensuing service ended the set.
ย ย ย Set 3 (17-25): Trailing by 10, Kent State continued to fight and scored five in a row to cut its deficit in half. The teams then traded 3-0 runs to close the night.
