
Kent State Falls to Middle Tennessee in FRYfest Invite Finale

CORALVILLE, Iowa โ Kent State posted its highest team hitting percentage of the season despite falling to Middle Tennessee, 3-0 (24-26, 18-25, 16-25) as action at the FRYfest Invitational came to an end on Sunday.
Led by 23 assists from sophomore Kendall White, the Golden Flashes (1-5) hit at a .220 clip for the match. Freshman Logan Henderson and sophomore Emma Schroeder shared the team lead with seven kills each. Redshirt senior Kiana Mack added six kills on 10 errorless attempts.
How it Happenedโฆ
ย ย ย Set 1: Kent State trailed by as many as eight in the opening set but battled back to tie it at 24-24 after denying Middle Tennessee on three consecutive set point opportunities. The Blue Raiders were able to sideout with a kill and closed the set with an ace.
ย ย ย Set 2: Despite scoring back-to-back points just twice, the Flashes only trailed 18-16. Kayla Henley then extended MTSU's lead to four with a pair of kills to start a 7-2 run that gave them a 2-0 lead.
ย ย ย Set 3: The Blue Raiders used an efficient attack with 17 kills on .500 hitting to finish the sweep.
Up Next for the Flashes
Kent State will travel to Buffalo for three matches next weekend at the Western New York Invitational.
