
Flashes Shine on Final Day of Doug Raymond Invitational

KENT, Ohio – Three Kent State track and field student-athletes recorded top-10 all-time marks in school history on Saturday as the home portion of the schedule concluded with day two of the Doug Raymond Invitational at the Kent State Field House.
Ayden Bath finished strong to win the men's heptathlon with a total of 5,407 points to claim the No. 5 spot on the Golden Flashes' all-time performance. Bath started the day by placing first in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.07 seconds and then recorded a personal-best height of 13'-5.25" in the pole vault before clocking in at 3:03.45 in the 1,000-meter run. Teammate Mason Murphy finished third with 4,702 points for a new personal-best.
A trio of women had standout performances in the 60-meter dash. Azsah Bradley ran a time of 7.51 seconds to tie the second fastest time in Kent State history to win the event. Yissis Cortijo Dominc placed second with a PR of 7.59 seconds, while Taylor Korytkowski took third in 7.62 seconds but is now tied for eighth on the program's all-time performance list after running a time of 7.58 seconds in the prelims. Korytkowski added a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 56.11 seconds.
Alexander Shields won the men's 60-meter hurdles in a time of 7.86 seconds that is the fastest by a Mid-American Conference runner this season.
Karsyn Spears earned the Flashes' other victory on the track and ran a personal-best time of 4:58.77 to win the women's mile.
The Flashes swept the triple jump, as Alexandre Malanda won on the men's side with a leap of 51'-7.25" while Lanee Hall won on the women's side with a 39'9.25" mark. Keeli Dunaway was close behind and finished second with a 39'-5" mark.
Nolan Landis added a second-place finish in men's shot put with a top throw of 53'-8.25".
The Flashes return to action next week at the Akron Invitational on February 2 and the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on February 2-3.
