
McGuire Records Double-Double Against Cardinals

KENT, Ohio โ Junior Mackenzie McGuire led Kent State with 11 kills, 10 digs and career-high four aces in a loss to visiting Ball State, 3-0 (22-25, 20-25, 22-25), on Saturday.
Senior Tylee Fuller also recorded 10 digs to tie her season-high and added three aces. Freshman Lesley Furuta added a career-high nine digs for the second night in a row.
How it Happenedโฆ
ย ย ย Set 1 (22-25): Trailing 24-19, Kent State kept fighting and forced Ball State to take timeout following kills by Mackenzie McGuire and Anna Shoemake, a solo block by McGuire and attack error that made it 24-22. The Cardinals recorded a kill on the next point to take a 1-0 lead.
ย ย ย Set 2 (20-25): The Golden Flashes pulled even at 13-13 on a kill by Shoemaker before losing seven of the next eight points and being unable to rally.
ย ย ย Set 3 (22-25): Kent State fought to the final point, scoring seven in a row after falling behind 24-15. McGuire had three aces and two kills during the run.
Up Next for the Flashes
The Golden Flashes (1-17, 0-8 MAC) will play three road contests next week, beginning Tuesday at Ohio. Kent State then travels to Bowling Green for matches on Friday and Saturday.
