
Flashes Drop Midweek #MACtion Matchup to Bobcats

ATHENS, Ohio โ Kent State lost a Mid-American Conference volleyball contest to host Ohio, 3-1 (23-25, 13-25, 25-15, 19-25), on Tuesday evening.
The Golden Flashes (1-18, 0-9 MAC) were led by efficient attacking performances from junior Mackenzie McGuire and senior Anna Shoemake. McGuire had a team-high 14 kills while hitting .324, and Shomake added 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
Freshmen Lesley Furuta and Nadia Miller both set new career-highs in the match. Furuta tallied 10 digs and Miller had 10 kills and five blocks.
Junior Kendall White recorded a double-double with 33 assists and team-high 11 digs.
How it Happenedโฆ
ย ย ย Set 1 (23-25): Kent State won the first four points of the night and led by as many five before Ohio took its first lead at 22-21. Anna Shoemake provided kills to tie it at 22-22 and 23-23, but the Bobcats took the next two points and the opening set.
ย ย ย Set 2 (13-25): The Bobcats posted a .472 hitting percentage and led byย double-digits for the majority of the second half of the set.
ย ย ย Set 3 (25-15): Nadia Miller provided five kills on just seven attempts and totaled three blocks to help the Golden Flashes extend the match in convincing fashion.
ย ย ย Set 4 (19-25): After trimming a five-point deficit to just one to make it 14-13, Kent State lost nine points in a row and wasย unable to get closer than five points the rest of the set.
