
Kent State Drops Friday Volleyball Match in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Key points late in sets went in the favor of host Bowling Green as Kent State lost 3-0 (23-25, 16-25, 24-26) in a Mid-American Conference volleyball match on Friday.
Junior Mackenzie McGuire led the Golden Flashes (1-19, 0-10 MAC) with 12 kills and six digs. Junior Greta Bolognini also tallied six digs to share the team lead. Kendall White recorded 26 assists and senior Anna Shoemake totaled five blocks, including a pair of solo stuffs.
How it Happened…
Set 1 (23-25): Neither team led by more than two prior to a 4-0 Bowling Green run that put the host ahead 21-17. Kent State cut the deficit to one point twice, but a kill by Lauryn Hovey allowed the Falcons to take the first set.
Set 2 (16-25): The Golden Flashes led 8-5 as the teams continued to battle at the start of the second set. BG stole momentum with a 7-0 run and pulled away for a 2-0 lead.
Set 3 (24-26): A kill by Nadia Miller brought Kent State within a kill of extending the match, but the hosts won the next three points to close it out.

Kent State and Bowling Green will battle again on Saturday at 5 p.m.
