Davis and Sullinger Score Season Highs in Loss to #5 Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – The Kent State Men's Basketball team dropped a hard-fought road contest on Wednesday evening against fifth ranked Auburn University. The Golden Flashes kept the pressure on in the second half with VonCameron Davis and Jalen Sullinger each dropping double-digits.
Despite an early double-digit Auburn lead, the Golden Flashes kept battling late into the first half. Anthony Morales, and Cli'Ron Hornbeak found points in the paint coupled with a pair of threes from Jalen Sullinger. This allowed Kent State to break up the Tigers' rhythm with 5-0 and 12-0 runs. Kent State trailed 36-22 at the half. The Flashes came out of the tunnel unintimidated as VonCameron Davis made the first 11 KSU points cutting the Auburn lead to just five in the first three minutes of the half. Kent State kept the AU lead to single digits for the next three minutes before Auburn responded with a 9-2 run. Key buckets from Davis and Sullinger made Auburn earn it down the stretch. Despite a combined 35 points from as Davis and Sullinger each recorded season highs, the Tigers pulled away for the win.
Kent State remined strong from the charity stripe shooting 73.3%. They scored 22 bench points, 26 from the floor, and 10 second chance points. Hornbeak led the Flashes in rebounding with seven on the night averaging 7.0 with a total of 21.
