NORTON, Ohio — For the third year in a row, senior Baidy Ba broke the Kent State men's 10k record and qualified for the national meet with a personal-best performance at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Friday afternoon.
Ba placed sixth overall with a time of 29:24.5 to beat his previous record by nearly 40 seconds to earn All-Region honors for the third consecutive season. He finished fourth among runners on non-advancing teams to reserve his start line spot at the NCAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Four additional Kent State runners on the men's team recorded PRs. Graduate student Ethan Yost ran a time of 31:39.1 to finish 101st and just missed his first top-100 regional placement.
