
Flashes Preparing for Home Opener Against Miami-Hamilton

KENT – The Kent State University men's basketball team will hold their home opener inside the M.A.C. Center on Friday, Nov. 8 welcoming the Harriers of Miami University Hamilton. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
This is first meeting in program history between the Golden Flashes and Harriers. Miami-Hamilton is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. They enter Friday's game with an overall record of 2-1 with wins against Lorain Community College and Clark State, and a loss to Campbellsville University Harrodsburg.
Kent State enters their home opener 1-0 following a 70-66 win over Louisiana on Monday, Nov. 4. VonCameron Davis led the Flashes in scoring with 17 points. 13 came from the charity stripe. Newcomer Morgan Safford dropped 13 with a pair of three-pointers and led KSU in rebounds with nine. Their third double-digit scorer was Cian Medley with 11. Cli'Ron Hornbeak was second on the roster in rebounds hauling in five. As a team Kent State shot 78.6% for the line in their first outing of the season.
For 2024-2025, Kent State returns three main starters and eight lettermen from a team that reached the MAC Tournament Championship game for the second time in as many years. Davis was named Preseason All-MAC First Team, and senior guard Jalen Sullinger was named Preseason All-MAC Second Team.
Friday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and on 850 AM ESPN Cleveland with Rob Polinsky on the radio call. The first 100 students in attendance will receive a voucher for a free hot dog from the concession stand. First generation college students at KSU will be recognized at halftime.
Following Miami-Hamilton, Kent State continues their non-conference schedule on the road at Auburn University on Nov. 13.
