
Women's Track and Field Sweeps Athlete of the Week Awards

CLEVELAND – Kent State student-athletes Gabby Bailey and Gabrielle Hammonds were recognized with Mid-American Conference Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for their outstanding performances this past weekend at the Al Campbell Invitational.
Bailey was the class of the field Friday night in the shot put, winning by nearly four feet. On her first throw of finals, she tossed the shot 51' 10.5" to secure the win. Her throw improved her season's best mark by over a foot and moved her into second place in the MAC and 55th place nationally,
Hammonds won the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 8.69 seconds. Her performance was a full tenth of a second faster than her previous best. The time moves her up to seventh in the MAC.
Kent State returns to action this weekend at the Indoor MAC Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich. on Feb. 23-24.
