
Kent State Finishes Second at MAC Women’s Indoor T&F Championships

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Kent State posted its best performance at the Mid-American Conference Women's Track and Field Championships in a decade, finishing second with 85.5 points during the two-day meet inside of Bowen Field House. Host Eastern Michigan won the championship for the second year in a row.
Entering in fourth place, the Golden Flashes began to climb the standings with 18 points in the first event of the day, the shot put. Gabby Bailey captured her second indoor shot put crown with a season-best throw of 52'-4.75". Aliesha Shaw recorded a personal-best mark of 51'-1" to place second and earn All-MAC honors.
The Flashes added 12.5 points in the high jump. Svenia De Coninck led the way with a height of 5'-9.25" for third place. Grace Adegoke and Lillie Franks both cleared an indoor personal-best of 5'-7.75". Adegoke tied for fourth and Franks finished seventh, via tiebreakers.
Keeli Dunaway and Lanee Hall totaled six points in the triple jump to round out field event competition. Dunaway placed fifth with a mark of 38'-9.75" and Hall was seventh with a top jump of 38'-8.25".
Kent State's 4x400-meter relay team of Taylor Korytkowski, Alexandria Verbancic, Amryne Chilton and Jericha Petrella led the way in running events, finishing second with a time of 3:45.80. Korytkowski and Petrella also scored in individual races with eighth-place finishes in the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash, respectively.
Azsah Bradley just missed tying the school record in the 60-meter dash and placed fourth in 7.47 seconds.
Gabrielle Hammonds added two points with a time of 8.74 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
Kent State will now focus on the outdoor season, which begins with the Stan Romanoski Open at West Virginia University on March 22-23.
