TOLEDO- The Golden Flashes dropped both games of a Saturday double header, falling to the Host Toledo Rockets 12-1 and 11-7.

GAME ONE

The Golden Flashes couldn't get the big hit against starter Grant Umberger in Saturday's opener. After the Rockets led 2-0 after three, the Flashes threatened in the fourth. Singles from Josh Johnson and Brody Williams put runners on the corner, but Dom Kibler flew out to right to end the threat. The Rockets broke it open with a three-run sixth, then added insurance late. Kent State would get on the board in the eighth, taking advantage of an error and a pinch-hit double from Kolton Schaller. Ripken Reese would score on a fielder's choice for the Flashes' lone run.

GAME TWO

The Flashes battled back in the nightcap. Toledo struck for three in the first off starter Joe Miceli. Kibler homered to start the second to get Kent on the board and chipped away at the Rockets lead in the third. Tim Orr struck a two-run homer and Josh Johnson added a solo shot one batter later, making it a 5-4 game. The teams would trade runs in the middle innings with Kibler striking again in the fifth on a run-scoring single. Brody Williams completed the comeback in the seventh with a two-run homer., tying the game at seven. Toledo used small ball late and was the final offensive surge on Saturday. The Rockets took advantage of a passed ball and a safety squeeze to go up 9-7, they added insurance in the eighth, taking game two 11-7.

The Flashes now sit at 15-17 overall and 7-7 in the MAC while Toledo is 19-16 overall and 12-5 in the MAC. The teams will meet tomorrow in the series finale, first pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.
