Flashes Set for B1G Mid-Week Games

KENT- The Golden Flashes have a B1G mid-week with Kent State taking on Penn State in Happy Valley on Tuesday and hosting Ohio State on Wednesday evening.
The Flashes are coming off a big come-from-behind victory on Sunday over Toledo. Kent State found itself down 9-3 in the fifth inning only to score 15 of the final 18 runs to win 18-12 in 10 innings on Sunday. Kent State blasted a program-record 10 homers in the victory, the second-most in Division-I behind Duke's 11 in a win over George Mason. Seven different Flashes hit a homer in the contest and now five different Flashes have six or more homers on the year.
Kent State will tangle with a Penn State team that is 18-14 overall and 8-4 at home this season. Penn State can swing it, batting .311 as a team. Five players hit over .300, led by JT Marr who is hitting a robust .418 this season. Adam Cecere has mashed 12 homers to lead the team and is second to Marr with 35 RBI.
Tuesday's matchup will air on Big Ten Network + as well as the Kent State Digital Network. It will be the 18th meeting all time between the programs with the Flashes owning a slight 9-8 edge, the squads have not met since the 2016 season.
The Flashes will try once again to matchup with Ohio State with two games in Columbus getting rained out and one getting washed at Kent State. The Buckeyes will also be in action on Tuesday, hosting Wright State. The Buckeyes took two of three from Iowa over the weekend, improving to 17-15 on the year. Henry Kaczmar leads the squad with a .315 average, while Mitchell Okuley has driven in a team high 32 runs.
Wednesday's game will have a free stream via Box Cast with Dan Griffin and Chase Cotner on the call. It will be a Gold Out with gold rally towels being given out to the first 300 fans. Fans will also have the opportunity to play baseball bingo and score along with the game with a chance to win tickets and other prizes. Head football coach Kenni Burns will throw out the first pitch.
Kent State hits the road this weekend, traveling to DeKalb to take on Northern Illinois. First pitch on Friday is set for 4 p.m. ET.
