KENT- Josh Johnson led a hot-hitting offense over the weekend and earned Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for his efforts.
Johnson hit .455 over the three-games against Eastern Michigan with two home runs and nine batted in while scoring five times. The grad student led an offense that erupted for 41 runs over the three games and a series victory over the Eagles. Thanks to his big weekend, Johnson has vaulted himself up the MAC rankings, now sitting third in average (.426) and RBI (20) in 12 league games.
Johnson and the Flashes are home this Tuesday night, welcoming in Pitt for a mid-week match-up.
Tuesday is our first 6 p.m. first pitch of the season and our annual "City Connect" game, sponsored by Water Street Tavern. The first 100 fans will receive a powder blue t-shirt celebrating our Tree City Black Squirrels moniker.
The Flashes improved to 14-15 with the series win over the Eagles this past weekend and have won 33 of the last 38 games at Schoonver Stadium, dating back to last season. This season, the Flashes are 9-2 at home and average over 10 runs per game at home.
Pitt comes into the game at 13-15 overall and 2-6 in true road games. Jake Kendro is one of four players hitting over .300 as a team while Jayden Melendez leads the squad with 9 homers and 23 driven in. The Panthers are pitching to a 6.17 team era and both teams are expected to throw several pitchers in typical weekday fashion.
Tuesday's game will be streamed for free with Dane Richardson and Dan Griffin on the call. Live stats will also be provided, both links are on the schedule page. The Flashes will hit the road this weekend, heading to Toledo to matchup with the Rockets. First pitch from the Glass City is set for 3 p.m. on Friday.
