KENT- A late Miami rally was too much for the Flashes on Friday, dropping the opener of a three-game set, 4-3 at Schoonover Stadium.

Miami scored two in the sixth and two more in the seventh to undo an early Kent State lead. The Flashes got on the board early, scoring two in the first. Tim Orr and Kyle Jackson had back-to-back singles, putting runners on the corners. Jackson then stole second and Orr scored on a Brody Williams' walk that ended in a wild pitch. Hunter Klotz then brought home Jackson on a ground out to take the early lead. Dom Kibler unloaded on a 3-2 pitch in the second, sending it soaring over the right field wall for his sixth homer of the season.

The game then settled down until the sixth as the starters settled into a groove. Ciaran Caughey pitched into the sixth, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out six. It was a two-run homer that chased the sophomore in the sixth as Rocco Bernadina came into finish the frame. Miami went ahead for good in the seventh, getting a couple of bloop singles and two stolen bases to score a pair of runs to take a 4-3 lead. Kent State got the lead-off man into scoring position twice late in the game on Friday, but couldn't push across the tying run. '

The win is Miami's ninth straight as they are now 24-19 overall and 15-10 in MAC play. The Flashes are 22-22 and 12-10 in conference.
