Kedronova Advances to NCAA Championship as Individual Qualifier

LAS VEGAS — Kent State University freshman Veronika Kedronova punched her ticket to the 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Championship after tying for sixth at the Las Vegas Regional. Kedronova shot 1-under par, 215 over three rounds at Spanish Trail Country Club to finish as the top individual not on one of the five advancing teams.
This is the second year in a row the Golden Flashes will have a rookie compete at the NCAA Championship, as Leon Takagi accomplished it last season.
Kedronova entered the day three strokes behind the leader for the individual qualifying spot and dug a larger deficit with bogies on three of her first seven holes. She carded par or better on each of the remaining 11 holes and turned her day around with an eagle on No. 18. After starting the front nine with a par, Kedronova recorded a birdie on No. 2 to pull back to even for the round before shooting par on her final seven holes.
Takagi carded an even-par 72 for the second straight day to jump nine spots on the leaderboard and finish in a tie for 16th with a 3-over, 219.
Kent State tied with Oklahoma for eighth on the team leaderboard. The Flashes were the only non-advancing team with multiple golfers who shot below 220.
Hester Sicking had three birdies and carded a 76 in the final round of her Kent State career and tied for 30th.
Vera Yi (240) and Jennifer Gu (257) rounded out Kent State's lineup and finished 59th and 63th, respectively.
Kedronova will conclude her freshman campaign at the 2024 NCAA Women's Golf Championship from May 17-20 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
