Harrisonburg, Va- The Kent State soccer team opened their five-game road trip against James Madison, playing 70 minutes in a game that was delayed multiple times before being deemed a no contest due to weather.
The start of the match got pushed back almost an hour due to inclement weather in the area that caused the teams to wait before they could take the field for warmups.
The Dukes were able to break the scoreless draw after both sides traded shots early on finding the first goal in the 21st minute. The Golden Flashes turned up the defensive intensity when they found themselves down a goal and held James Madison to just one shot on goal the rest of the match.
In the 67th minute the Flashes created their best chance of the game so far with three straight corner kicks but could not found the equalizer.
In the 70th minute the game went into a delay that lasted for 40 minutes before the officials deemed the game a no contest.
Samantha Miller, Taylor English, and Addy Cusick all fired shots on goal for the Flashes. In net, Heidi Marshall tallied 3 saves.
