PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Third-year head coach Haley Eckerman revamped the roster, as only five student-athletes on this season's 17-member roster were part of the program last season. The Golden Flashes return the top four pin hitters, led by outside hitter Mackenzie McGuire. The junior was fifth in the Mid-American Conference in kills per set (3.86) a year ago and had the most total kills (359) by a Kent State player since 2017. Outside hitter Logan Henderson was second on the team at 2.10 kills per set and earned a spot on the MAC All-Freshman Team. Outside hitter Karina Salinas (144 kills) and right side Anna Shoemake (69 kills) are also back.
Junior Kendall White returns at the setter position after totaling 725 assists during her first season as a Flash. White led the team with 14 double-doubles and her 270 digs are the most among returners.
Six of the newcomers have college experience, including four at the Division I level. Outside hitter Breanna Burrell is the most accomplished of the group after posting 943 kills over four seasons at Northwestern State. The graduate student was a third-team All-Southland Conference performer as a sophomore.
ALL-TIME VS. OPPONENTSย
Kent State is 1-2 all-time against Delaware and posted a 3-2 victory in the most recent meeting at Kansas on Sept. 10, 2021.
The Golden Flashes will play Michigan for the first time since the 1998 season and are 0-2 all-time against the Wolverines.
