Lexington, Ky.- The Kent State soccer team was unable to get past Kentucky on Friday night, falling 3-1.
Kentucky opened the scoring in the fourth minute off a header by Maddie Kemp. The Wildcats played a cross in that was headed off the post and was cleaned up by Maddie Kemp.
The Golden Flashes answered back in the 12th minute when Siena Stambolich played a long free kick into the box that found the head of Ava Todd whose header hit off the bar. But the ball found the foot of Kelsey Salopek was there to clean up the rebound for her first goal of the season.
The Wildcats would score the next two goals in the 39th and 51st minute to put the game out of reach.
Kent State was only able to generate five shots and one shot on goal in the Bluegrass State. Alisa Arthur led the team with three shots and Salopek put the lone shot on goal for the Flashes.
In the box score, The Flashes trailed in shots (5-15), shots on goal (1-7), and corner kick opportunities (0-9). Heidi Marshall tallied 4 saves in net.
