STATE COLLEGE- Several Golden Flashes set career highs and Kent State wrapped up non-conference play with a setback at #10/8 Penn State on Saturday afternoon.
Kent State slowed down the top-10 Nittany Lions in the first half. Kameron Olds plucked an errant screen pass for his first interception as a Golden Flash. The defensive end rumbled 13 yards on the return.
Olds wasn't the only Flash defender to have a stand out performance. Linebacker Rocco Nicholl led the squad and set a career high with 14 stops on Saturday. Mason Woods added seven tackles. Matt Harmon continued his strong finish to the non-con with another sack to go along with five tackles.
Offensively, the Flashes were led in rushing by Ayden Harris as the freshman and Exton, Pennsylvania native made an offensive impact. Through the air, Ardell Banks led the receivers as the redshirt freshman closed the non-conference matching a career high. Â Josh Smith led the special teams, averaging over 42 yards per punt and pinning Penn State inside the 20 on five occasions.
The Blue and Gold return home next weekend for homecoming and the start of Mid-American Conference play, hosting Eastern Michigan. Kick time from Dix Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m.
