
Volleyball Gets Homecoming Weekend Started with Pair of #MACtion Contests

Kent State gets Homecoming weekend started with two matches against Eastern Michigan as Mid-American Conference play begins on Thursday and Friday.
First serve between the Golden Flashes (1-9) and Eagles is scheduled for 6 p.m. both nights. Thursday will be RecWell night with the first 500 fans receiving a Kent State performance hoodie and the first 250 fans also receiving a Kent State shaker bottle. The first 300 students through the M.A.C. Center doors on Friday will receive a retro Kent State reversible bucket hat to celebrate Throwback Night.

PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State will be in action at the M.A.C. Center for just the second time this season.
Junior Greta Bolognini has earned the libero jersey in her first season as a Golden Flash and ranks fourth in the MAC in aces per set (0.41) and seventh in digs per set (4.03). A consistent rotation has not been established, however, as Bolognini and freshman Hailey Brenner are the only team members who have appeared in all 34 sets this season.
Sophomore Logan Henderson has emerged as the Golden Flashes' top scorer and averages 2.55 points per set. Henderson is tied for the team lead with 65 kills and has a team-high 25 total blocks. Redshirt senior Karina Salinas also has 65 kills on the season.
Junior Kendall White ranks fifth in the conference in assists per set (7.61). Since sharing setting duties during opening weekend, White has averaged 9.56 assists per set over the past five contests in which she has played.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Eastern Michigan (6-8) enters league play after a 2-1 weekend at the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational. As a team, the Eagles ranking in the top-30 nationally in total blocks (147.5), blocks per set (2.68), total assists (580), total attacks (1,780) and total digs (761).
Freshman Hatteras Welker has made an immediate impact and ranks eighth in the country in total blocks (67) and second in the conference in blocks per set (1.31). Welker was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday and has recorded double-digit blocks twice this season. Outside hitter Kalli Doctor leads the attack and averages 2.81 kills per set.
SERIES HISTORY
Kent State owns a 22-40-1 record all-time against Eastern Michigan. The Golden Flashes lost a pair last season in Ypsilanti and have not hosted the Eagles since Oct. 9, 2021.
